Black Crossed Slippers

As I said on the previous blog-post, it's been a changing-the-colour-of-everything week. It is not an obsession or craziness, it is just a question of aesthetic and getting tired of some colours. Well, admittedly brown is not a cool colour as well as black and also there is not a lot to expect from Ebay. Some people do like brown and do wear brown clothes and accessories and shoes but these crossed slippers in brown don't look good at all. CLICK HERE AND YOU MUST AGREE WITH ME. If you are wondering what I did to make them look much better now, simple, I simply painted them using leather dye spray on the soles and fabric ink on the straps. I like the fact they have cushioned insoles and rugged soles which make a pair of 2,5cm-platforms and more comfortable than any other pair of shoes I have ever had.

Contrast Soles

If you follow me on Instagram, you have probably seen I have been working on some DIY projects which involve leather colourant. I have been changing some of my shoes colour for tiredness reasons. I was really getting sick of my striped sandals - I DO like prints but I always get tired of them easily and as I truly love my Adidas sandals, I decided to dye them black and leave their soles white. I did the same as I did on my Dr. Martens shoes but dyed their soles instead - not sure if it is gonna work as the colourant I used is specifically for leather.

After being disappointed because of a pair of metallic sandals for women which obviously were too small, I returned them to Asos, bought a silver dye spray and sprayed a pair of old sandals I bought last year and wore like every-day-even-to-sleep. They were dirty and shabby but even though I never thought about getting rid of them because the love was still there and I wanted to use my sensitive creativity and to help ecologically the world.
The madness of spraying everything that appears in front of me continues, neither my fingers managed to escape from my gun.

Mint Metallic Sandals - Compulsive buying

These mint metallic sandals by Asos are just a result of a compulsive buying moment. I was madly seaching for metallic sandals, on all online shops you can imagine including Ebay even at the risk of buying something with bad quality, then I ended up buying these ones which were as tight as my hand, in the last picture, shows besides the bad quality I was avoiding.

Crossed Flip-Flops + Fingers Crossed For Real Spring

Theoretically winter has ended and it is the third day of spring but it is still too cold -seems endless-, it is raining as I am typing this and my feet are almost frozen. I am already becoming a wetland-plant.
Regarding these crossed  rubber flip-flops by Diesel I bought last week, will be kept in my wardrobe while real-spring doesn't show its ass off.

Having a spray and a pair of shoes - or anything that you could paint - in hand is as dangerous as having a pair of scissors. The sensation of cutting and painting everything that appears in front of you is the same as having sex eating chocolate. It's crazy!

Yes, my mum is the real culprit for the f*cking cold weather. While she was in Brazil the weather in the UK was fine and kinda possible to wear sandals, flip flops - or whatever makes your feet free. It is almost snowing and going out to smoke is like a madness.
Anyway I bought a pair of striped flip flop by Adidas because I thought the spring was coming - I know the winter just started three weeks ago but being as much positive as possible is never enough.
As everyone, I am never satisfied and just thinking of adding an extra pair of straps as I did last summer to wear them as sandals.

GREY Derby Shoes

I've been looking for grey shoes a long time and the only ones that I was interested in were those by Maison M. Margiela in cement effect but unfortunately (as always) they are for women, there are not in my size and also the price which is quite high even with 50% discount now at ln-cc.com. Again, sometimes I hate having big feet, I never find shoes in my size and I'm pretty sure I am not the only one, there are a lot of boys/men who have difficulty buying cool footwear; the only ones available in stores are always the same, the same style... but don't worry, once my brand grow I will start designing the coolest menswear shoes ever! I swear!
Without many options, I ended up buying these derbies by T&F Slack (via asos.com). The only thing that I dislike is - the contrast welts in beige, I'm seriously thinking of painting them grey.

WISH LIST - Celine Slippers

I know it's still autumn and winter hasn't started yet AND everything I have to think of is - warm clothes, warm and protectors shoes. But at the same time I guess these slippers by Celine are quite wintry even they are from their spring-summer collection - fur and leather covering their footwear. As you already know I was born in Brazil and (also) as you probably know Brazil is a hot country I mean 35 degrees Celsius - sometimes more than that - in summer and even in winter depending on year in which we are able to wear sandals, shorts, lightweight clothes in general and I cannot get used to a country that snows every year (or almost every year) and the average is 0 (zero) degrees Celsius. Perceptibly I am completely addict to sandals, toes-out, made from leather, plastic, rubber, no matter the material, I think my worst suffering during the European cold seasons is the fact that I can't wear sandals unless I want my feet amputated, no, I don't. I love sandals! I want something my feet can breathe!

I have heard people saying that this type of shoes is inspired by camel paw, cow paw etc etc... but, NO, they are completely wrong about that. Tabi boots are nothing more, nothing less than a type of footwear worn in Japan by construction workers, farmers, gardeners etc. One disadvantage of tabi boots is that they provide no actual protection to the foot against falling objects. Now they are being replaced by hard ones in some industries, I mean, steel-toed, rigid soles but many workers still prefer them for the softness of their soles. The workers need to be sure what is under their feet and if they wish, use their feet as an extra pair of hands - Oh, so agile!
This season I decided to honor the Asians somehow; first, I'm a grandson of Japanese and now is the Asian-moment - kimono, tie-belts ... but the only thing I could find that I would wear is the tabi boots, maybe a kimono but I have no kimono in my wardrobe. Oh Prada, coincidently there were so many leather tabi boots at Prada yesterday.
I got mine from Ebay.

DIY Open Toe Boots

You will need:
- Sharp knife
- Chalk
- A pair of leather zipped boots 

Mark where you want to cut the toe with the chalk and cut it off. Use scissors to remove the excess lining. And finally use shoe polish to make your open toe boots look better.

Rounded toes and raw-cut edges, these beauties are made from polished leather and are from COS. The laces are hidden between two pieces of leather which aren't enough for a clean style, I would just trade the laces for large elastics as ACNE did. DIY Platform Sandals

You'll need:
- A pair of flat sandals
- Shoe glue (I used this one HERE)
- Two pairs of rubber flip flips(I used three including the sandals soles - I made them myself) - make sure they line up with your sandals, if not, don't worry, just look for some larger size than you normally wear.
- Scissors
- Heavy books and/or magazines
- (If your flip-flops are larger than your sandals) serrated knife

Instructions:


Step 1 - Remove thongs from flip-flops using strong scissors.
Step 2 - Start with one base layer and carefully squeeze shoe glue on top so that most surface is covered. Place another flip-flop sole on top, lining it up with the toe.
Step 3 - Allow the platforms to dry - Use books e/or magazines e/or weights to apply pressure for 24 hours.
Step 4 - After drying the platforms follow the same instructions to glue the sandals.

If your flip-flop soles are larger than your sandals, use a serrated knife to remove the leftovers.

Xander Zhou studied industrial design in China and fashion design in The Netherlands. He established his label in 2007 and He's based in Beijing.

Oh, well. I don't know very much about Xander Zhou to be honest, this up here is just I what I could get from his website. But that doesn't mean I don't want to know him better, I mean his work. Today I watched (online), for the first time, his Spring 2013 collection, which is the best one so far btw.
My eyes went straight to the sandals - as always. Those platforms with black and white straps (ignore the silver ones) are the most perfectly amazing things I've seen so far in menswear. I know I'm quite addicted to sandals and it bothers me sometimes.

WISHLIST: Mono Burgundy Shoes

I have never worn coloured shoes, except when I was a little kid, I remember when my dad gave me a pair of shoes from Disney (I can't remember of others) with the Mickey's face on them. Dr. Martens brought these burgundy ones (ss12) which remind me of those with croc effect from 2009 collection that I bought last year and it would be a great deal to buy them on sale - GET THEM HERE.
During this week I will be sending modismonet.com "my outfit of the day", I just have to send them some pictures including details and the explanation of it, today I was wearing pink trousers and a purple shirt; I told them that I like monochromatic outfits and when I wear a purple shirt I have to wear purple trousers as well or at least in the same colour tone. I am definitely a monochromatic boy.
